I have been having a moment with collagen supplements of late. I am one of those peeps who just sucks at producing collagen – literally ageing before your eyes. I am anal when it comes to what I put in my body supplement wise (wish the same went for food and alcohol… that area I could certainly do with a stern kick up the backside). I exclusively only put in what my body needs and in as natural form as possible. Therefore, I have a tendency to take a lot of supplements at a time – the joys of having a shite immune system.

When I learnt that collagen was a good supplement to take if you were worried about ageing, joint pain, brittle hair, lacklustre skin or health in general, I knew I had to jump on the (very crowded) bandwagon and try my hands at them. After testing 4 brands of collagen supplements, these are my two picks and the ones that I would recommend to my beautiful followers.

Pure Gold Collagen*

35.99 pounds (for 10)

I stumbled across this brand on my first full day in London. I was cold, wet and so darn jet-lagged. I had been freaking out over how terrible my skin was, having been hit with the 30 hour + travel time from Sydney, when out of the blue (or ok, the tube station) appeared a massive banner basically asking if my skin was in need of some internal anti-ageing action. After screaming with excitement and many yeses (internally of course- Londoners don’t show emotion on the outside, der) I raced to my local Boots and picked myself up some collagen shots (I was also gifted some from PR) and well, the rest is history.

I tested out 30 days of collagen shots, and I was quite impressed with the results. Whilst I didn’t see any changes in the ageing of my skin, I did notice that my joints were less stiff and sore upon rising, I had more energy in the morning (less fatigued) and I slept better, my hair started to become less brittle (it has been on the decline since I stopped – I think it is a sign I need to start again) and whilst my skin was still reeling from the flight, I actually saw a dewiness in my skin that I hadn’t been able to achieve with skincare alone. So all-in-all, a very positive experience (but would suggest you allow 3 months to see more results in your skin)

collagen review

I need to learn to not look so frightened in my photos – not only are my wrinkles quite deep, but I am not doing myself any favours by showing them off! This was probably a turning point for me – realising Collagen supplements were a necessity!

Vida Glow

$49.95 (US)

What I love most about the Vida Glow sachets is that they are in fact, sachets. They don’t have any taste, require minimal effort to use (I throw mine into my daily morning smoothie) and very convenient (not heavy packaging).

Vida Glow helps to strengthen your skin and hair from the inside out. The collagen that is absorbed by taking Vida Glow, improves skin elasticity by increasing the density of fibroblasts, which are the cells responsible for rebuilding connective tissues. Vida Glow stimulates the body’s own natural collagen production by noticing the increased amount of collagen in the blood stream. Consumed daily it helps restore collagen production levels, giving you healthy and youthful looking skin.

As a results of taking a daily dose of Vida Glow for one month, I noticed that my skin was more hydrated, radiant, body recovered quicker after exercise, nails were stronger and my skin started to clear up slightly.  What I love most about these is not the only the results, but the fact they ship world-wide! I can have access to these, no matter where I live #Winning!

You can purchase Vida Glow on their website.
