face of the day

Let’s be honest, fussy make up is definitely not the most “user-friendly”. It takes a while to do and then you are constantly worried you might smudged it all day. That is why I always opt for a subtle look that is easy to achieve, then throw in a pop of colour in either the lip or lids, and wallah… happy camper!

I recently attended a daytime wedding and this was the look I decided to run with: luminous skin, bombshell lashes and a pink lip! It was a hit. And these are the products I used to achieve the look.

St Tropez Skin Illuminator in Gold*

I used this seriously rad (and sweet smelling) illuminator by mixing it in with my foundation. It gave me the perfect amount of glow and dewiness that I was after, and it isn’t glittery at all.

Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius Foundation*

Whoever invented this brush on foundation is actually.. a genius! Easy to apply (simply brush on and blend) and offering not-too-heavy coverage, it gave me an excellent base for my ‘day wedding’ look, and allowed my freckles to see be noticeable, but imperfections to be hidden.

ModelCo Bronze

Because my skin was already quite luminous from the illuminator, I needed a matte bronzer that would tone up my skin but not be too noticeable. ModelCo make rad make up, but I am a complete and utter devout to the matte, tinted bronzing powder. It enhances, gives a natural colour, inexpensive ($22) and suitable for all skin types.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Blush in Rosewood

I usually adhere to an expensive blush..daily, but since it ran out, I needed to find something that was an affordable addiction – and this beauty was it. It glides on easily over my cheeks, and has light-reflecting pearlescent particles to up the radiance factor! It is a newfound love!

ModelCo Designer Brow Set*

Doing my brows is a necessity, and this ModelCo brow kit has become my daily addiction. Even when I am not wearing any make up, I will always ensure I use this it to feel my lacking-brows in! It comes with a few colours to feel almost any coloured brow in, plus tweezers, soft wax and a little brow brush to tame even the most unruly brows. It is serious love that I am not 100% how I am going to cope without it when I move to London (eek, time to stock up).

Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown*

Applied after the initial brow filler, this little tube of joy sculpts my brows and holds their unruliness in place (I have the darn curly brow hairs, so this is a necessity after I have filled them in). Because it is tinted it adds a little extra colour and is complimentary to any brows. Totally worth it!

Mary Kay Cream Eye Colour in Metallic Taupe*

This is a soft, dewy and easy to apply eye colour that lasts and lasts. I used the metallic taupe colour because it was the perfect plain colour that you could build on. Because I am utterly lazy, it was super handy to use because I only had to use my finger to apply. Well impressed with this little pot of joy.

Covergirl Bombshell Volume by Lashblast*

This mascara is actually a whole lotta wow! Like, literally, I think we all need to go out to the shops and invest in this little tube. Not only does it sexify your peepers, but it is supermarket buyable (and cheap)! Because it is a two-stage product, I was a little hesitant at first but it totally allowed my lashes to go from blah to hurrah with a volumising swipe then a top coat that intesifies and left me with actual bombshell lashes (hard to tell, but trust me – it was compliments galore all day). Cannot recommend this beauty anymore.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 005*

I rarely wear lipstick, but when I do, I have to ensure that it lasts, that I can’t smudge it.. I am forever touching my mouth, and that the colour is just right. Lucky for me, I know that Rimmel London clearly knows me all too well, cause their Kate Moss range always gives the perfect pigment without a smudge. Hello, I love you!
