Homemade and healthy smoothies are so full of money-saving radness, Ryan Gosling just had to throw me a compliment! (thanks Ryan)
Sometimes, when we are saving for something big, our health has a tendency to fall to the wayside, in exchange for cheap food. I am here to tell you, your health doesn’t need to suffer in order for you to save your pretty pennies. No, my lovely listeners, health and savings CAN go hand-in-hand, and I am here to show you how.
I present to you, two easy-peasy, yummy-scrummy healthy smoothie recipes that are inexpensive (and MUCH cheaper than your regular ‘About Life’ or Boost Juice smoothies). What is even better, the ingredients and the machine can be purchased for real cheap, can help make lots of scrumptious and delicious foods (this Soup maker
, which I will be giving away next month, doubles as a smoothie maker/ blender for all round efficiency and means, multiple foods can be made on the cheap). These recipes are m weekly must-enjoys, and are so good for any Tom, Dick, Sally, Sue or a general Fitness equipment fanatic!
So, take note, and enjoy!
Strawberry-alicious Protein Smoothie
Handful of Strawberries (frozen are fine)
200ml Coconut or Almond milk (I use a So Good Almond and Coconut Mix – for added protein)
Vanilla Protein (I use Herbalife, but there are heaps on the market)
Banana (freeze the banana for extra texture in your smoothie)
Blend all ingredients in a blender (or this soup maker) for 20 seconds (or till combined)
This seriously delicious smoothie is my ‘go-to’ for early mornings. It is easy to prepare, delicious to eat and is the perfect pre-gym / pounding the Fitness Equipment
treat for those who need a little zing in their step.
Youth Juice – Anti ageing Green Juice
1 cup Coconut water
1 Green Apple
2 handfuls Spinach
3 Pineapple Rings or a cup of freshly chopped Pineapple
1 tablespoon of wheatgrass powder
Dash of Lemon
Ginger to taste
Blend all ingredients in a blender till combined.
This anti-ageing Green-juice beauty is so delicious, and makes the perfect mid afternoon treat. I down one with my lunch, but usually have left overs so enjoy when my hunger kicks in afterwards. It is chock-full of fibre, skin loving Greens and is great for the immunity (tip – if you have a cold coming on, add more Ginger and Lemon). It is also excellent after the gym, as it contains nature’s favourite re-hydrator: Coconut Water!
