COMING UP ROSES

It seems that no matter where I turn my nose,  I am constantly being confronted by roses. Not that the flower isn’t a symbol of beauty or reminiscent of my life in Austria, it is just literally filling every aspect of my life – but no complaints here. It is, after all, the original metaphor for anything attractive. An now, Aphrodite’s flower, Shakespeare, Marie Antoinette’s fragrance of choice, the subject of many Van Gogh paintings, and is once again, having a revival on the cosmetics shelve. As Mr Shakespeare once said: “bitches loveth their roses” (*creative interpretation of what was probably said once). Why, though?

Roses make us feel loved. Roses make us feel giddy. And roses are the epitome of love, and well, what better way to love thy self than with a beauty decadence fit for any Queen. We really all should come up roses, but, because we all can’t – I will just share my favourites in the hope that you find a rose among the thorns!

Jurlique Rose Body Oil

Quench your skin a bed of roses with one of the best body oils a gal could come across. A lightweight, soothing and balancing body oil that nurtures the mind, body and senses, whilst being an added security blanket of antioxidant protection. Perfection for a little Sunday massage or post bath pep-up, I would be lost without this bottle of magic.

Jurlique Rose hand Cream

Not to be out-shone by a body oil (although, this surely wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing to be trumped by), this decadently natural hand cream is Queen in the hand moisturising front. For those with winter hands, this little lady will leave your mittens supple and smooth, and smelling so unforgivably blissful #BedSideStaple

L’Occitane Shea Rose Ultra Rich Body Cream

Lotions and potions are a heavy breed in my beauty cupboard, and you could be forgiven for not getting why – this little lassy has a serious cause of dry body, and in constant need of a hydration prescription (I’d never will be caught dead with dry skin). Luckily, I have an after shower treat that is just what the doctor ordered!

L’Occitane is a favourite brand of mine, and this ultra-moisturising shea butter is the bees knees at upping the nourishing factor, and living up to the high bar I have for the brand. Perfect for dry skin, this limited edition favourite has my nose twitching with glee, and skin so silky I can’t stop rubbing my arms.

Weleda Wild Rose Creamy Body Wash

This harmonious wash is a symphony of nourishing organic rosehip seed oil, blended with rosa damascena essential oil to pamper every aspect of your senses. Step into your shower stressed and leave feeling zenned to a white, fluffy cloud. Free of any nasty ingredients, this heavenly natural wash is simply a must-try.

Stella McCartney EDP Spray

Quintessentially delightful, this uber feminine floral bouquet of heaven makes a statement on any pulse point. Opening with rose oil, peony and a gentle touch of fresh tangerine that develops to a heart of rose, this little ripper is nasal nirvana if I ever smelt it. I am head-over-heels in lust with this soft Spring scent, and because it is the perfect handbag sized, I can spritz it at a moments notice.

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist

I was addicted to the Jurlique charity Rosewater mist in 2013, so when I emptied it out and was in desperate need of a hydration hit, I was pretty glad I came across this beauty staple. Brimming with antioxidants, this rosewater is anti-inflammatory and soothing, and the perfect pep-up for dehydrated skin. Seriously brilliant shit!

L’Occitane Solidarity Soap

My shower routine and I are pretty solid – I shower, every night, without fail. So, adding a bit of solidarity soap to my routine was and is, a no brainer. Made with 5% Shea Butter, this square of luxury nourishes and cleanses the skin, with a delicate scent.. not to mention, 100% of the profits of sale from this baby goes to charity #BeautyWithACause

The Balm White Tea Rose Face Cleanser

Infused with Rose extract, this soft cleanser (perfect for sensitive skin) combines the power of antioxidant-rich white tea with natural extracts to promote beautiful skin. It gently removes the sasquatch of the day from your face without straining your dermis, and takes you on a little bit of a blissed-out journey to Roseland: it is pretty darn blissful people!

Dr Bonner’s 18-in-1 Hemp Rose Pure Castille Soap

Rose oil by itself is epic, and it doesn’t hurt that precious rose oil in all its incarnations also balances and soothes skin, and provides essential fatty acids to fight aging and dryness. With that in mind, oil in the shower is kinda dangerous (hello accident waiting to happen). This is where the magic of Dr Bonner’s certified organic Rose Hemp soap comes in handy. Rich in coconut, jojoba and hemp oils, at that heart of the soap is a nourishingly intense moisturiser, that cleanses and hydrates, whilst leaving no sheen to your skin or shower floor. It is like a magician and pharmacist gave birth, and this hydrating soap was the baby.
Herbal Essences Replenishing Rose Shampoo and Conditioner

Every King needs its Queen, and these two are the rulers of the Rose-scented kingdom. Paired to perfection, their rich, delighting scent, and fusion of Moroccan rose to truly hit the hair-spot is making shower-fighters go weak at the knees. Infused with hydro-activated silkening ingredients, these two go together like Batman and Robin, Yin and Yang, Salt and Pepper – made for each other… and made for your shower and hair experience.

What is your favourite Rose-scented product?

** I was kindly gifted these products (minus the perfume and Dr Bonner soap) for blog consideration. This did not, in any way, influence my opinion on the product.
